About PUPC

Physics Unlimited Premier Competition (PUPC) is an individual-based physics competition that originated from the Princeton University Physics Competition. In 2014, a group of physics students at Princeton University co-founded the Princeton University Physics competition. Years later, one of the original directors of the physics competition created Physics Unlimited, a non-profit organization that oversees events at international locations and hosts online-based competitions for high school students. The main purpose of Physics Unlimited is to provide opportunities for students that are willing to study physics or to work on other related subjects. The goal of the organization is to create a bond between the different countries and to create an environment with no cultural barriers that would be suitable for any student. PUPC challenges students to think outside of the box and to practice applying their knowledge at a deeper level. Students are encouraged to try to use different methods to approach a physics or math problem. The purpose of Physics Unlimited is to make physics education more accessible to people in different countries.

Rules of PUPC

Students from around the world are invited to join the PUPC; the international exams will be held online. Though this competition is aimed towards high school students, any student that hasn’t graduated from high school is allowed to participate. Competitors have 90 minutes to complete four physics questions that are at the level of U.S.-based AP Physics 1,2, and/or C. Students will be required to have a computer or phone with a functioning camera. The awards include gold, silver, and bronze medals, and honourable mention certificates. All competitors will receive a participation certificate at their host site.
